Celebrating Indiana wines

In its 13th year, Vintage Indiana is an opportunity to showcase Indiana wine and grapes as part of Indiana’s agriculture.  Jeannette Merritt, marketing director for the Indiana Wine Grape Council and festival director says with 26 wineries featured – there is bound to be something for everyone.  “We have wineries that are just producing brandy; we have some that are just doing hard cider and they are using apples; and mead products using honey,” she says.  “No matter what your taste – dry or sweet – with over 200 wines, there is something for everyone.”

Along with entertainment – Merritt tells Brownfield Vintage Indiana will also feature a wine and food education area where attendees can learn how to properly pair their wines.  “You’ll learn what wine goes with turkey; how to incorporate dairy into a meal where it is more than just cheese and the proper wine pair for that,” she says.  “There will be four different sessions throughout the day teaching people how to pair wines with our friends from the commodity organizations.

Vintage Indiana is runs 11am to 7pm, June 2nd at Military Park in downtown Indianapolis.
