The CME Group says it intends to expand the open outcry trading session on days when USDA releases major crop reports at 7:30 AM Central.
The pit traded futures and option session, if approved by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, would start at 7:20 AM Central instead of 9:30 AM Central and close at the regular time of 1:15 PM Central.
If the CFTC gives the go ahead, the expanded open outcry hours would begin with the Supply and Demand, and Crop Production reports June 12.
The CME Group, Kansas City Board of Trade, and Minneapolis Grain Exchange recently moved to 21-hour electronic trading days.
