Representatives want RFS biodiesel requirement enacted

26 Senators and 34 members of Congress have sent a letters to the White House urging the President to enact the biodiesel volume requirement under the Renewable Fuels Standard. The RFS calls for 1.28 billion gallons of biodiesel to be used in 2013; the Obama Administration delayed the decision to raise the standard late last year saying it needs further review. Biodiesel use exceeded the RFS requirement last year with record production of 1.1 billion gallons and the representatives contend increasing the RFS to 1.28 billion gallons would not be that big of a jump.

The biodiesel industry is also pushing Congress to renew the $1.00 per gallon tax incentive which expired at the end of last year.
