Top 10 finish for OSU judging team

For the first time since 2004, the Ohio State University Livestock Judging Team placed in the top 10 at a major national contest. The team, coached by Kyle Culp had two 9th place finishes at the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

The team placed 9th in the carload contest and team member Lindsey Grimes was 10th high individual.

In the livestock contest, the team was 9th overall, with a sixth place in the beef division and 10th in sheep and goats.

Ohio State’s top individual in the beef division was Jake Boyert at number 12. In the sheep and goats division, OSU’s Kyle Nickles was 5th high individual.

“I am really excited about seeing the bright future for this team. Placing in the top ten at NWSS will help motivate all of our team members to work harder and have an outstanding season,” said Culp.

OSU was represented by Jake Boyert, Kyle Nickles, Sean Robinson, Nick Wells, Trey Miller, Lindsey Grimes, Bailey Harsh, Linsey Howell, Audrey Neal, and Nathan Benich. Two other team members did not travel to NWSS, Nick Wright and Brittni Treichler. The contests were divided and allowed five members per team to participate. Boyert, Nickles, Robinson, Wells, and Miller participated in the livestock contest. Grimes, Harsh, Howell, Neal, and Benich were on the carload team.
