Good week for soybean, wheat inspections

USDA reports the week ending January 26 was mixed for grain and oilseed export inspections. Soybeans and wheat were above what’s needed weekly to meet USDA projections for the 2011/12 marketing year but corn fell short of its’ mark.

Wheat came out at 18.655 million bushels, up 857,000 from the week ending January 19 but down 6.475 million from the week ending January 27, 2011. For the 2011/12 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 656.727 million bushels, compared to 756.153 million in 2010/11.

Corn was reported at 22.690 million bushels, 13.471 million lower than the previous week and 8.562 million less than a year ago. So far this marketing year, corn inspections are 671.081 million bushels, compared to 682.862 million bushels this time last year.

Soybeans were pegged at 41.503 million bushels, 5.102 million above the prior week but 2.331 million below last year. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 718.040 million bushels, compared to 979.393 million bushels a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 289,000 bushels. That’s 595,000 bushels under the week before and a drop of 1.351 million from a year ago. 2011/12 sorghum inspections are 32.243 million bushels, compared to 59.451 million in 2010/11.
