Partners in Success luncheon

Last week the Indiana Professional Dairy Producers held their Partners in Success luncheon in Indianapolis.  LuAnn Troxel is president of IPDP and she says there are some concerns facing the dairy industry moving forward.  One of those, Troxel says, is a producer’s ability to remain profitable.  She adds that is a fundamental and without it they are unable to feed their families.

Along with managing the bottom line, Troxel is also concerned about over regulation within the agriculture industry, the lack of youth to take over some of the best-managed dairy operations and misconceptions consumers have about the producer.

Troxel tells Brownfield because of those issues facing animal agriculture; she challenges members to make a difference and educate others about misconceptions.  With less than 2 percent of the population involved in the agriculture industry, Troxel says it does more harm than good to divide the industry.  She says it doesn’t mean everyone agrees with everyone, but they can use it as a foundation to work together.  In addition,  she says the consumers shouldn’t be playing size wars.  That just because a farm is small doesn’t automatically mean they are better than a larger operation.
