Ohio corn harvest a tick over half done

Ohio farmers are making progress, albeit, slow. Compared to a week ago, both corn and soybean harvest advanced 17 points. As of Sunday, November 13, corn harvest was 51 percent complete, still 28 percent behind average, 73 percent of the crop was in fair-to-good condition, a drop of 2 points.

84 percent of the soybean crop has been harvested, 13 percent behind the 5-year average.

The Ohio field office of the National Ag Statistics Service (NASS) says winter wheat seeding is 91 percent complete, 6 points behind the average pace, 64 percent of the crop has emerged, 88 percent is reported in fair-to-good condition.

Topsoil moisture remains 100 percent adequate to surplus.

Other Ohio crops:

Fall and winter apple harvest was 99 percent complete.

Grape harvest was 96 percent complete.

Pastures in the state were rated 69 percent fair-to good, unchanged from last week.
