Meet Ryan Best, 2011-2012 National FFA president

The 84th Annual National FFA Convention wrapped up Saturday with the announcement of the 2011-2012 officer team at Conseco Fieldhouse.  For Ryan Best of New Mexico, being named president of the organization that has inspired him was simply amazing.  He says being elected president is one of those goals you set in life and to finally see it through is incredibly exciting and Best says he is excited to spend the next year serving the National FFA Organization.

Best says the National FFA Organization gives students the vehicle for personal growth and leadership development that is talked about in the organization’s mission.  He says a perfect example is the state FFA  retreat – where a few participants come in shy and reserved.  Best says by the end of the retreat everyone is outgoing and having “a blast”.  He says FFA gives every student the possibility to get out of their shell and grow personally so they can be more confident in the person they want to become.

Best tells Brownfield one of his goals is to get to know as many of his peers as possible.  He wants to give his fellow FFA members someone to look up to and also be there to support them in reaching their own goals.

Joining Best on the national officer team:  Jason Troendle of Minnesota, Secretary; Kenneth Quick Jr of New York, Eastern Region vice-president; Alicia Hodnik of Wisconsin, Central Region vice-president; Cain Thurmond of Georgia, Southern Region vice-president; and Seth Pratt of Idaho, Western Region vice-president.  For the next year the national officer team will be the voice and face of the National FFA Organization.
