Iowa pork producers select best tenderloin

The winner of the Iowa Pork Producers Association’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin Contest for 2011 is Gramma’s Kitchen in Walcott, Iowa.

The restaurant is located near the World’s Largest Truck Stop on Interstate 80 at the Walcott exit.  It serves about 150 tenderloin sandwiches per week.

The Country House eatery in Colo placed second in the annual competition.  The Rusty Duck in Dexter and Newton’s Paradise Café in Waterloo received honorable mention awards.

  • The Classic Deli and Ice Cream Shoppe in Brooklyn Ia has the best breaded tenderloin i have erer eaten, Everyone in that area is raving about it. You have to check it out.

  • Tenderloins that are very large are mostly very thin in the meat department and heavy on the breading. I check the winners list in the annual contest and have visited many. I have yet to have a better tenderloin than is served at Fat Randy’s in VanMeter.
