EPA issues compliance orders to six Midwest CAFOs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued compliance orders to six concentrated animal feeding operations in Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska. 

The orders direct those operations to correct a range of violations of the federal Clean Water Act. 

This latest round of CAFO enforcement activity by EPA involves five beef feedlots—three in Nebraska, one in Kansas and one in Iowa—and an egg layer operation in Nebraska. 

Acccording to an EPA news release, those operations are Ritter Feedyards of Beemer, Nebraska; Reigle Farms of Madison, Nebraska, Dave Uecker Livestock of Norfolk, Nebraska; S & S Cattle Company of Council Bluffs, Iowa;  Callicrate Feeding Company of St. Francis, Kansas; and, Bloom N Egg Farm, owned by M.F. Waldbaum Company of Bloomfield, Nebraska.
