69% of corn, 66% of soybeans in good to excellent condition

U.S. corn and soybeans are in very good condition but continue to show the impact of late planting and widely variable growing conditions.

As of Sunday, 14% of corn has reached the silking stage, compared to 36% a year ago and the five year average of 26%, with 69% of the crop in good to excellent condition, unchanged from a week ago.

21% of soybeans are blooming, a big jump from last week but still behind the 38% this time last year and the five year average of 33%. 66% of soybeans are rated good to excellent, steady with the previous week and with 1% moving from the good category up to excellent.

Spring wheat is also showing the impact of slow planting. 98% has emerged, compared to 100% both a year ago and on average, with 27% headed, compared to 68% last year and 73% on average. Still, 73% of spring wheat is rated good to excellent, up 3% from last week, all out of the fair category into good.

63% of the winter wheat crop is harvested, up 1% from this time last year and steady with the five year average.

49% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, 2% less than a week ago and down 16% from a year ago.
