In Nebraska, the Natural Resources Conservation Service will provide one million dollars to help convert some irrigated fields to dryland production.
Farmers and ranchers with land in the Upper Republican Agriculture Water Enhancement Program project area have until May 15th to apply.
That program is a voluntary conservation initiative that provides technical and financial assistance to farmers who make the change. The conversions will help Nebraska meet its obligations to Kansas for Republican River water.
