Rural Conference to focus on arthritis
The causes, prevention and treatment of arthritis in rural populations will be the focus of a 3-day conference at the Beck Agricultural Center at West Lafayette. Conference Coordinator Amber Wolfe tells Brownfield a number of arthritis related topics will be covered, everything from rural women with rheumatoid arthritis, to solutions for enhancing the quality of life for those with arthritis.
“We have sessions on gardening, for small acreage owners with arthritis, and even one on prevention of the early onset of osteoarthritis in some of our farm youth and how we can reach out to those youth markets and try to educate them so they are not in as much pain later on in life, as some of the older generations,” Wolfe said.
The Arthritis, Agriculture and Rural Life Conference will be held May 11-13, 2011.
