NFU applauds Senate for health care vote

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson applauds the US Senate vote against a Republican-backed repeal of the health care law – the “Affordable Care Act (ACA).”

In a statement issued Wednesday, Johnson said “several provisions of the legislation have already begun to have a positive effect on rural Americans’ access to health care.” He listed relief from the Medicare prescription drug gap, coverage for uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions, and a small business tax credit to help rural small business owners afford employee health insurance as some of the benefits being realized.

Johnson says NFU has been fighting for health care improvements for farmers and all rural Americans for more than 20 years. He says the Senate vote opposing repeal “is a vote in favor of rural America.”
