North Carolina soybean grower Ken Bartlett, a director on the United Soybean Board, spent time at the Nebraska Soybean display at Husker Harvest Days. We visited with Ken about some of the soybean checkoff’s current activities, including negotiations with Vietnam to obtain some of that country’s high-yielding, drought-tolerant soybean germplasm. He also talked about the USB’s nationwide survey of the oil and protein content of soybeans, an effort to determine what causes those characteristics to vary so much from region to region and from variety to variety.
