MO college to expand ag program

The Barton Farm Campus of North Central Missouri College in Trenton has received a gift of more than 450-thousand dollars to help expand its facilities and curriculum in agriculture and natural resources.  Governor Jay Nixon led the groundbreaking cermonies today.

The Training for Tomorrow funds are part of a 4.5 Million dollar plan to expand the college and increasing ag program enrollment at NCNC to 150 students.

Construction begins this fall on a plant science building and conservation structures on Barton Farm Campus. Later, a greenhouse, alternative fuels classroom, animal science building and wind turbine will be built.

The recent gift is from former Trenton residents Elizabeth Barton and her son Arthur.  Their gift is being combined with other state funds and private gifts.
