July 15 – FSA deadline

Indiana producers are being reminded that Thursday, July 15th is the deadline for producers to contact their local Farm Service Agency office to certify crop acreages, but Gail Peas, Program Specialist at the Indiana FSA State Office tells Brownfield.

“If our schedule does not permit us to take care of them, we do have the possibility of making an appointment for them in the future and still consider that timely filed,” said Peas.

The July 15th deadline also applies producers who were prevented from planting or had crops fail.

Another July 15th deadline though has been extended, FSA program specialist Carl Schweikhardt, says producers enrolled in the 2009 ACRE program now have until September 1 to certify yields.

“It’s been a while since they signed up and it may have slipped their mind that need to be coming in and doing this,” said Schweikhardt. “It is a requirement they establish these or it will be considered a violation of the acre contract and that would result in them repaying any direct payments they may have received.”
