91% of U.S. soybean crop planted

U.S. soybean planting continues to move well across most of the nation.

As of Sunday, USDA reports 91% of the crop is planted, up 7% from last week, 5% above last year and 1% ahead of the five year average. However, 7 of the 18 largest production states are at or behind average including Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska.

80% of the crop has emerged, compared to 70% a year ago and the five year average of 79%. 73% of the crop is in good to excellent condition, down 2% from last week.

98% of the corn crop has emerged, compared to 94% a year ago and 97% on average. 77% of corn is in good to excellent shape, up 1% on the week.

97% of spring wheat has emerged, compared to 92% this time last year and the five year average of 98%. 86% of spring wheat is in good to excellent condition, up 2% from a week ago.

88% of winter wheat has headed, compared to 89% last year and 92% on average, and 9% is harvested, compared to 7% a year ago and the five year average of 12%. 66% of winter wheat is in good to excellent shape, unchanged from last week.

72% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, 1% more than last week and 12% above last year.
