Resistant soybean varieties counter nematodes

It’s never too late to test for the presence of soybean cyst nematode. Iowa State University Nematologist Dr. Greg Tylka says growers can have the pest and not even know it without testing. At its most robust, SCN is barely detectable with the naked eye. But as little as it is, it can do serious damage to soybean fields. And if SCN is in a soybean field, simply switching to a resistant soybean variety “could literally mean an extra twenty, twenty-five bushels per acre,” says Tylka.
