Monsanto has launched its new program tied to Mother’s Day called America’s Farmers Mom of the Year.
“And basically we just want to recognize the critical role that women play in agriculture,” said Gayla Daugherty with Monsanto Community Outreach. Applications for America’s Farmers Mom of the Year are accepted through April 9, from which five regional winners will be selected, says Daugherty. From those five, a national winner will be determined based on online voting, to be announced the week before Mother’s Day.

“This would be a woman who is the backbone of her family farm, who is actively involved in farming,” Daugherty told Brownfield, “and basically she works to support the success of agriculture overall and the success of her family farm.”
Each of five finalists gets $5,000 and the national winner gets an additional $2,500. Eligible mothers are to be at least 18 years old from farms of at least 250 acres. Complete requirements are at the America’s Farmers website.

Do you have an application available to submit a “Mom of the Year” applicant for 2012? I missed the deadline last year so want to make sure I am on top of it this year.
Thanks,
Ann
