Pioneer senior research manager Jeff Schussler says the company anticipates the release of new drought tolerant corn hybrids in 2011.  These hybrids are coming from Pioneer’s natural breeding program and Schussler says they are showing a six to ten percent yield boost over the best drought tolerant hybrids currently being used.  And Schussler says new drought tolerant transgenic hybrids, which are about five to six years away, promise a 10 to 15 bushel improvement in yield.
