Expanding the uses of rhizobium bacterium

Since 1898 rhizobium bacterium for inoculation of legumes has been produced in Milwaukee. First as a dry, black peat powder, then a granular formulation and eventually a liquid. Today, EMD Crop BioScience makes a product that not only contains the rhizobium bacterium but an LCO molecule which Dr. Stewart Smith says is the key to starting the nodulation process.
