Farmers in Illinois continued to harvest last week, helped out by improved field conditions.
However, many fields are still wet and the corn that has been harvested has high moisture content.
85% of the corn crop is harvested as of Sunday, with 95% of sorghum harvested and 87% of the winter wheat crop emerged.
Those producers that have finished harvest are busy with fall tillage and applying fertilizer.

is there a financial reason for corn to stay in the field over the winter? Possibly dring?
The reason that corn might still be standing in some fields is because weather or other conditions have made it difficult or impossible for the farmer to harvest that crop. In a “normal” year, the corn is harvested in the fall.
