The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has become well-known for its undercover videos showing animal abuse. The latest video involved Bushway Packing, a veal calf processor in Vermont. That plant was closed two weeks ago after some of its workers were shown on undercover video dragging, kicking and repeatedly applying electrical shocks to day-old calves.
Now a lawyer for Bushway is claiming that the HSUS undercover investigator who shot the video while employed in the plant provoked at least some of the actions. Attorney Peter Langrock told the Burlington Free Press that the HSUS investigator urged a plant worker to douse water on calves to increase the shock that they would receive from electrical prods. HSUS denies the accusation.
