A conference, called “New Food for Thought,” focusing on local foods and agri-tourism is going to be held Thursday, November 19th at the Fort Wayne Marriott.
“In the economy we have today everybody is looking for new ideas, new ventures, new ways to make a little extra income with that 5 acres or 50 acres they have,” said Tiffany Obrecht, Policy Specialist for Indiana Farm Bureau. “This conference is geared towards producers and want-to-be producers that are looking for ways to increase their income potential.”
Obrecht says there will be three tracks for producers, “Get Local,” Get Thinking,” and Get Started,” another track is “Get Local.”
“Which is just for those local foodies, folks that may be interested in growing their own garden, or interested in learning what’s offered here in Indiana,” Obrecht said. “We’re going to have a great opportunity to learn some recipes with local foods as well as enjoy some of the local products including some local wines, ice cream and cheese.”
The registration deadline is Friday, November 6.
