The Iowa Department of Agriculture is encouraging eligible groups to apply for grants to support water quality improvement projects.
A total of one-point-six million dollars in grant funds is available to local watershed improvement committees, soil and water conservation districts, public water supply utilities, county conservation boards, cities and counties. Projects addressing agricultural runoff and drainage, flood prevention and stream bank erosion are among those that will be considered.
Applications are due by January 15th, 2010.
