Combine, tractor sales slip in September

Sales of combines and large tractors in the U.S. slipped in September.  That according to the latest report from the Agricultural Equipment Manufacturers.

Combine sales were off eight-point-five percent last month compared to September 2008.  Even with the decline, however, combine sales for the first nine months of ‘09 are still 22 percent better than the same period in 2008.

Sales of four-wheel drive tractors in September dropped nearly three percent from 2008, but are still up six percent for the year.

Sales of two-wheel drive tractors, 100 horsepower and less, continue to struggle.  They were off 25 percent for the month and are down 23 percent for the year.
