A down year for Western corn rootworms

Nationally, costs associated with yield-loss and management of the Western corn rootworm is estimated at over $1 billion annually. In Illinois, Ron Estes is Senior Research Specialist at the University of Illinois says the number of Western corn rootworms are down this year, due in part to the weather.
