Allendale producer survey shows rising corn, soybean yields

Allendale Inc.’s 20th annual yield survey shows a record corn yield and rising soybean yields.

Allendale’s producer survey covered 24 states and puts corn yield at 164.08 bushels per acre with the highest estimate in Antelope Country, Nebraska at 260 bushels per acre. The lowest estimate was in Traill County, North Dakota at 50 bushels per acre. Allendale adds that most U.S. corn is at the dough making stage.

Nationally, soybeans are projected at 43.1 bushels per acre with the highest estimated yield in York County, Nebraska at 80 bushels per acre. The lowest yield estimate was Winneshiek County, Iowa at 15 bushels per acre.

That works out to a corn crop of 13.127 billion bushels and a soybean crop of 3.309 billion bushels.

Allendale’s estimated frost free date for corn is October 1 and the estimate for beans is September 29.

USDA’s next set of crop production estimates are out first thing, Friday, September 11.
