Even farmers need to call Julie

Excavation can easily damage underground utilities if those doing the digging aren’t aware of the utility lines’ location. It happens frequently, and not only is it a danger to those on the shovel, those hitting underground utilities are liable for damage unless they make a call to determine the location of underground gas, electric and communication lines. In Illinois that service is known as Julie. Dale Kuhn tells us at the Farm Progress Show that underground lines don’t stop at the city limits. He also tells us how easy it is to initiate communication with Julie…if the lines aren’t cut!
