Designed specifically for farmers from any size operation, Purdue University’s 42nd annual Top Farmer Crop Workshop (TFCW) July 19-22 will among other things, address the financial crisis.

“Many farmers are concerned following the financial crisis of this past fall,” said Bruce Erickson, TCFW coordinator. “Farmers are looking for advice and looking to talk to other farmers as to how they should position their operation in the future.”

In fact, Erickson tells Brownfield they have built in to the program ample time for farmers to spend time with other farmers to talk about ways they are dealing with some of the concerns they have and to position themselves to be successful in the future.

This year’s Top Farmer Crop Workshop has nearly 50 scheduled sessions.

“We always like to look at new technologies, last year we had robotics, this year we have aerial imagery, also grain management, there has been a lot of progress in how we are managing our grain,” Erickson said.

While some may think the Top Crop Farmer Workshop is geared for the larger producer, Erickson says that’s not the case, many that attend he says would fall in to the medium to small farm category.
