Indiana soybean planting 94 percent complete

5 full days of good weather the week ending June 28 allowed soybean planting in the state to inch toward completion, as of Sunday, June 28, 94 percent of the intended soybean acreage had been planted, just a tick behind last year’s 95 percent.

The latest crop and weather report from the Indiana field office of the National Ag Statistics Service (NASS)has the condition of the soybean crop rated 63 percent good to excellent, corn has a rating of 62 percent good to excellent, a 3 point improvement from a week ago.

Wheat harvest in the state is progressing north, with 32 percent of the crop harvested which is ahead of last year’s pace, but behind the 5-year average of 37 percent. 64 percent of the wheat crop is in good to excellent condition.

Pasture condition declined in the past week, 77 percent is in good to excellent condition down 2 points from a week ago.

Topsoil moisture is 93 percent adequate to surplus.
